PM Modi Talks With US President Biden Over Phone

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to US President Joe Biden on Monday. During the telephone conversation, the two leaders discussed major global issues. PM Modi himself gave this information from his X handle. PM Modi also discussed in detail with the US President the latest situation in Bangladesh and the situation in Ukraine. Modi wrote that India has full support for the return of peace and stability in Ukraine as soon as possible.
PM Modi wrote from his X handle that he spoke to US President Joe Biden on the phone today. We had detailed discussions on various regional and global issues, including the situation in Ukraine. I reiterated India's full support so that peace and stability returns as soon as possible. He said that we also discussed the situation in Bangladesh and emphasized the need to restore normalcy soon, as well as ensure the safety and security of minorities, especially Hindus, in Bangladesh.
According to the official statement, Modi appreciated Biden's deep commitment to the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership. It is based on shared values of democracy, rule of law and strong people-to-people ties. The leaders reviewed the significant progress in bilateral relations and highlighted that the India-US partnership is aimed at the benefit of the people of both countries as well as all of humanity.
During his talks with Biden on the Ukraine conflict, Modi briefed the US President on his visit to Kyiv, where he met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The Prime Minister reiterated India's consistent position in favour of dialogue and diplomacy and expressed full support for an early return to peace and stability, the statement said.
Both Modi and Biden shared their concern over the situation in Bangladesh. They stressed on the restoration of law and order and ensuring the safety of minorities, especially Hindus, in Bangladesh. After Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned and fled to India, there have been reports of attacks on Hindu temples as well as homes and businesses of Hindus there. The statement said that the two leaders reiterated their commitment to further strengthen cooperation on multilateral forums, including the Quad.
