PM Should Intervene To End The Ongoing Violence In Manipur: NESO

Incidents of violence are being reported every day in Manipur. Many students are protesting at various places in the state. Meanwhile, the North East Students Union (NESO) has appealed to the Prime Minister of the country to intervene to end the ongoing violence in Manipur.

NESO President Samuel Jirwa said that failure to resolve the conflict not only harms the stability of Manipur but also poses a threat to the overall peace and security of the entire Northeast region.

It is worth noting that various student organizations of the North East are included in NESO. It includes organizations like All Assam Students Union, Khasi Student Union, Garo Students Union, Arunachal Pradesh Students Union, Naga Students Federation, and All Manipur Students Union.

Samuel Jirwa further said, NESO has repeatedly appealed to the Government of India and the Hon'ble Prime Minister to intervene decisively in this matter. He said, the long silence of the Hon'ble Prime Minister has only served to aggravate the crisis and he has not visited Manipur since the violence broke out. According to NESO, the lack of strong leadership and intervention has made the conflict more severe, leading to increased violence and increased suffering of the people.

NESO President Jirva said, as a student organization, NESO has consistently called for a peaceful solution to this crisis. He said that dialogue with all organizations is the only way forward. Where the rights, aspirations and dignity of every person are respected and upheld. He said that the people of Manipur deserve peace and this can only be achieved through mutual understanding and commitment to non-violence.
