Preparatory Meeting Held For 43rd Agartala Book Fair

The proposal to hold the 43rd Agartala Book Fair from January 2 to January 14 has been accepted at the international fair premises in Hapaniya. On the occasion of 43rd Agartala Book Fair-2025, a meeting of Book Fair Management Committee was held  at Muktdhara Auditorium in Agartala on Tuesday. 

The meeting was chaired by the chairman of the 43rd Agartala Book Fair Management Committee, Mayor and MLA  Dipak Majumdar. The proposal was accepted in the meeting.

In the meeting, a review of the implementation of various decisions taken under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha on October 28 regarding the organization of the 43rd Agartala Book Fair and the venue and theme of the book fair were discussed in detail. In the meeting of the management committee, a proposal was accepted to hold the 43rd Agartala Book Fair to be held from January 2 to January 14 at the international fair premises in Hapaniya. Besides, the proposal of formulating the theme of the book fair based on the influence of Indian human philosophy in establishing peace in the world was also accepted.

In the beginning of the meeting, Bimbisar Bhattacharya, Director, Department of Information and Culture presented a PowerPoint presentation on various issues related to the upcoming book fair. In the discussion, Vice Chairman of West Tripura Zilla Parishad Biswajit Sheel, Chairman of Society for Management of Cultural Complex Nabendu Bhattacharya, Vice Chairman of Tripura State Cultural Advisory Committee Subrata Chakraborty expressed their views on the matter.

Also participated in the discussion were members of Tripura State Cultural Advisory Committee, Agartala Purnigam Corporator Vaswati Debvarma, Tapas Roy, Utpal Biswas, Vidyutjit Chakraborty, Manojit Dhar, Tripura Publishers Guild Secretary Ajit Debbarma , Publishers and Booksellers Association Secretary Rakhal Majumdar, All Tripura Booksellers and Publishers. Uttam Chakraborty, Secretary of the Association, Senior journalist Dibakar Debnath, poet Nakul Roy, writer Nakul Das, lawyer Asmita Vanik, essayist Dr. Ashish Kumar Vaidya and others. 

At the end of the meeting, Chairman of the Management Committee and Mayor of Agartala Purnigam MLA Dipak Majumder said that the number of book lovers is increasing every year in the Agartala Book Fair and the fair is expanding its range with time. He expressed hope that the upcoming 43rd Agartala Book Fair will be successfully organized with the initiative of all concerned including book publishers, book sellers, buyers, new readers
