"The present government of the state is working to create a new Tripura, so that the next generation does not have to face problems. And now almost every medical facility is available within the state."
Chief Minister of Tripura Prof. Dr. Manik Saha said this while inaugurating various important projects at Vivekananda Auditorium in Hapania today on the occasion of the 20th Foundation Day of Tripura Medical College and Dr. Bram Teaching Hospital.
The activities included the inauguration of the renovated grounds and new gallery, laying the foundation stone of G+13 Residential Building and G+4 Trauma Center Building, inauguration of blood donation camp and celebration of the Foundation Day of Dr. Bram Teaching Hospital.
Speaking in the program Chief Minister and Health Minister Dr. Saha said, "I am really happy to see such a beautiful playground at Tripura Medical College. And the new building will be helpful in terms of accommodation."
The Chief Minister said, 'we have laid the foundation stone for setting up a trauma centre here, in which patients will not need to go to GBP Hospital. About 13 batches of MBBS students have already passed out from Tripura Medical College, maybe more. From now on, alumni and former doctors must be invited during such functions. When a perfect person runs a college, I am really happy, but in the government sector, people generally do not like to take responsibility. The number of infrastructure will increase further, but we must work on renovating the existing infrastructure, so that it looks good."
The Chief Minister also said, "Gradually, there will be development in all areas. I have witnessed massive development here. I would like to congratulate all those who have won awards. The profession of a doctor is a noble profession and we also have many responsibilities. We cannot shirk our responsibilities, and if we can identify our shortcomings, we can improve ourselves. If we rest, no work will be completed."
"The Tripura Medical College authorities have applied for 50 more MBBS seats. If this number of seats increases, the children will benefit. We have many students who are working with repute outside the state and even abroad" he added.
On this day the Chief Minister said in the program that "skill development is very necessary for everyone including doctors. The number of patient referrals in the state has come down a lot. There should not be referral cases. Nowadays, treatment for every case is available in Tripura. However, people are not aware of this and spend all their money and go outside the state. We must create awareness about this. Our Speaker (Principal) is now stable and under the observation of doctors without oxygen. He got the opportunity of initial treatment at Tripura Medical College. Now we have AI, technology and internet. Through which we can think innovatively. We must use all these tools. We are working to create a new Tripura, so that the next generation does not face any problem."
