Probe of Post-Poll Violence in West Bengal: BJP Forms Committee Led by MP Biplab Deb

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President J.P. Nadda on Saturday constituted a four-member committee to investigate the alleged political violence in West Bengal.

The party accused Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of remaining a mute spectator.

This committee includes party MPs Biplab Kumar Deb, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Brijlal and Kavita Patidar. Deb is the convener of this committee.

The party said in a statement, "Mamata Banerjee remains a mute spectator, as criminals from her party fearlessly attack and intimidate workers and voters of opposition parties. Even the Calcutta High Court has taken cognizance of these excesses and extended the deployment of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) till June 21 and fixed the hearing of the case on June 18".

BJP said that Lok Sabha elections were held across the country, but no incident of political violence was reported from anywhere except West Bengal.

The BJP alleged, "The state is in the grip of post-poll violence. We saw similar violence after the 2021 assembly elections.
