Proposal Placed To Use The water Of River Titas For Agartala: CM Manik Saha

"The use of water from the River Titas is being considered for supplying drinking water to all 51 wards of the Agartala Municipal Corporation."

Chief Minister of Tripura Prof. Dr. Manik Saha said this while inaugurating the Vivekananda Township project adjacent to Kaman Chowmuhani in Agartala.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Dr. Saha said that "there were several problems during the construction of 48 houses at this place. Our government is transparent and we are working for the development of the people. These houses have been made for the low-income group, middle-income group and high-income group. We were waiting to hand over the keys to the owners of these houses and now we have done that. I thank TUDA for constructing such houses. And these houses have been made earthquake-resistant."

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said, "the present state government is working for development and there is no talk except development. From January to August, we have inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of various projects worth about Rs 800 crore. And this is the BJP-led government. We have formed TUDA to build beautiful buildings for a comfortable life. We have also given permission for the construction of high-rise buildings by following all the rules. The main objective of TUDA is to build modern quality flats for the economically weaker and middle class people."

The Chief Minister said, "We are constructing roads. Another project of 216 houses is underway near Bhagat Singh Youth Home at a cost of about Rs 96 crore. It is expected to be completed by March next year."

 He also requested the Centre to remove the burden of loan amount for externally aided projects.

The Chief Minister said that the work of preparing GIS master plans for 20 urban areas of the state is underway. Already, the work of preparing the master plan of Agartala city is about 70 percent complete. About 1,500 crore rupees will be spent on development work in the state in 5 years under these two projects - Chief Minister Satellite Town Development and Chief Minister Urban Development. Also, with the help of ADB, development work worth about Rs 530 crore  has been undertaken in the first phase of the Chief Minister Urban Development Project.

Regarding drinking water, Chief Minister Dr. Saha said, "Howrah, Kalapania or Katakhal water  mixed with the River Titas . We are thinking of providing drinking water from Titas river to 51 wards of Agartala Municipal Corporation. A proposal has been made in this regard and if everything goes as per plan, we will raise the issue with the Centre. So that we can provide iron-free water. We are working on it."

The four-storey residence was built at a cost of Rs 20 crore 22 lakh. The residence has various facilities including 24-hour CCTV surveillance, power supply system, lift facility, drinking water facility, car parking facility, water drainage system and others.
