Former Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin has given his name in the auction of International League T20 (ILT20).
The tournament will be played in UAE from 2 December to 4 January.
The auction will be held on 30 September. R Ashwin retires from all formats of international cricket in December 2024 and from IPL on 27 August.
Ashwin told Cricbuzz,
"I have sent my name for the ILT20 auction. Hopefully I will find a buyer. This time the auction system has been adopted instead of the draft to select players in the league. The auction will be held in Dubai on September 30."
If Ashwin is selected, he will be the biggest Indian cricketer to play in this league.
Before this, only Robin Uthappa, Yusuf Pathan and Ambati Rayudu have participated in this competition.
5 franchises of the league are owned by Indian owners.
A total of 6 teams play in ILT20. Their names are MI Emirates, Gulf Giants, Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, Sharjah Warriors, Dubai Capitals and Desert Vipers. The current champion is Dubai Capitals.
It is believed that Ashwin now wants to play the role of a coach along with a player in international leagues. Next year he can also be seen in America's Major League Cricket (MLC) and England's The Hundred.
Many big foreign stars have already been signed in this league, including names like Andre Russell, Alex Hales, Jason Holder, Liam Livingstone, Sunil Narine, Shimron Hetmyer, Moeen Ali, Tim David and Adil Rashid.
Ashwin took retired from international cricket during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in December last year.
He announced his retirement after the Gaba Test played between 14 and 18 December. He arrived at the press conference with captain Rohit Sharma.
He had said, "today is my last day as an Indian team cricketer. I will continue playing club cricket."
Ashwin has played 287 matches in all three formats and taken 765 wickets. Ashwin is India's second highest wicket-taker. Only Anil Kumble is ahead of him, who has taken 953 wickets.
Ashwin has played 221 matches in IPL and has 187 wickets (economy rate 7.29) and 833 runs (strike rate 118). Last season, he played 9 matches for CSK.
Ashwin was bought by CSK for Rs 9.75 crore in the mega auction, returning to his home franchise after 9 years. He played for Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals between 2016 and 2024. He started his IPL career with CSK and was with the team from 2008 to 2015.
38-year-old Ashwin , who played for 5 IPL teams, made his debut with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 2009 IPL.
He participated in the Indian League for 5 teams like Chennai Super Kings, Rising Pune Supergiants, Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals. Apart from this, he also played for a long time in Tamil Nadu and Tamil Nadu Premier League.
