Rahul Denies Charges in Sultanpur Court

Rahul Gandhi appeared before the MP/MLA court in Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh, on Friday in connection with his remarks concerning Union Home Minister Amit Shah. According to his counsel, Rahul categorically denied all allegations, asserting that the case was politically motivated and devoid of substantive merit.

Lawyers present during the proceedings stated that upon entering the courtroom, Rahul greeted the presiding judge with folded hands and expressed gratitude at the conclusion of the hearing. When asked whether he had any statement to make, he replied in the affirmative. He remained in court for nearly 20 minutes. The matter has been scheduled for its next hearing on March 9.

Following the court appearance, Rahul visited the shop of the late Ramchet Mochi and met his family. He lifted the cobbler’s granddaughter, Shraddha, in his arms and enquired about an injury on her leg. Family members informed him that the wound was not healing properly. Rahul subsequently spoke with Uttar Pradesh Congress President Ajay Rai regarding her medical treatment and offered her chocolates.

Ramchet Mochi had succumbed to cancer three months ago. About a year and a half earlier, Rahul had visited his shop, stitched shoes alongside him, and later provided him with a sewing machine as assistance.

Earlier in the day, Rahul arrived at Lucknow airport from Delhi and proceeded to the court by road. Party workers attempted to garland him en route, but he declined. As he exited the court premises, a large crowd of supporters gathered, prompting security personnel to escort him out through an alternate gate.
