Rahul Dravid Steps Down: New Head Coach of Team India Shortly- Jay Shah

Team India has once again won the title of T20 World Cup 2024. After defeating South Africa by 7 runs in this year's final, India has won another ICC title.

Meanwhile, the big thing is that soon after becoming the world champion, Indian captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have announced their retirement from T20 International. Shortly after, Ravindra Jadeja also announced to leave this format.

Not only this, the big thing is that the tenure of Indian team's head coach Rahul Dravid has also ended. This was also his last match.

Meanwhile, now Team India will get a new head coach. For some time now, this exercise is being done by the BCCI. Now the BCCI Secretary has made it clear that by the time the Indian cricket team plays the series with Sri Lanka, the new head coach will be announced.

BCCI secretary Jai Shah has said that the new head coach of the Indian cricket team will join the team in the limited overs series against Sri Lanka at the end of this month.

However, he did not tell whose name has been finalized after the departure of Rahul Dravid. Jai Shah said that a selector will also be appointed soon. The BCCI secretary is currently in the West Indies. Talking to the media, Jai Shah has said that the appointment of the coach and selector will be done soon.

The CAC has interviewed two contenders and we will implement their decision after going to Mumbai.

Now the Indian team is going to tour Zimbabwe for a series of 5 T20 International matches. VVS Laxman will go on this tour, but the new coach will be associated with the Sri Lanka series only.

The Indian team will go to Sri Lanka to play three T20 and three ODIs from July 27. Expressing happiness over India winning the ICC title after 11 years, Shah praised Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.

Shah said that the same captain was there last year as well as here. We won all the matches last year too except the final. This time we worked harder and won the title. If we compare with other teams, experience matters. From Rohit to Virat, everyone performed brilliantly. Experience made a lot of difference.

Jay Shah said the media that a good player knows when to retire. We saw it yesterday. Rohit's strike rate is better than many young players. When asked if he is looking at a phase of change after the retirement of these three, he said that the change has happened when the three veterans retired.

On Hardik Pandya's excellent performance and the possibility of him becoming the captain after Rohit, Shah said that the decision on captaincy will be taken by the selectors. We will talk to them and announce it. A lot of questions were being raised on Hardik's form, but we and the selectors trusted him which he lived up to. The BCCI is planning a felicitation ceremony for the Indian team, but due to the storm warning, the Barbados airport is closed and the team is stuck here.

Shah said that like you, we are also stuck here. We will think about the ceremony after reaching India
