Reasons why India lost the Lord's Test

India lost the third test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy by 22 runs at Lord's Stadium.

On the last day of the match, Team India could score only 170 runs against the target of 193 runs.

With this, England has taken a 2-1 lead in the 5-Test series.

The biggest reason for India's defeat was the poor performance of the batsmen.

Captain Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Karun Nair flopped in both the innings.

At the same time, the lower batsmen of the team could not do wonders with the bat in both the innings.

The bowling was strong, despite this the team could not take the lead in the first innings.

The return of Jofra Archer in the English team and losing the toss on the Lord's pitch also became the reason for India's defeat. India also spent 63 extra runs.

Reason-1:

Dependence on Rahul, Pant, Jadeja:

Karun, Yashasvi, Shubhaman did not perform well. While India's batting was excellent in the Leeds and Birmingham Tests, the team's batting disappointed more in the Lord's Test. In the first 2 Tests, Shubhaman Gill scored 3 and Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 1 century. This time both of them together could score only 39 runs. Karun, who could not score even a single fifty in the first 2 Tests, was also out on scores of 40 and 16 runs.

The poor performance of Yashasvi, Shubman and Karun increased the dependence on KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja. Rahul played innings of 100 and 39 runs. Pant scored 74 in the first innings. Jadeja played innings of 72 and 61 runs, but the three did not get support from the other batsmen. Therefore, the team could not gain a lead in the first innings despite a strong position.

Reason-2:

Flop batting of lower order, collapse in both innings In the first innings, the bowlers restricted England to a low score of 387 runs.

India's score was 376/6 at one time, from here the team lost the last 4 wickets in making only 11 runs. In the second innings, only Rahul could score 39 runs.

Apart from him, only Jadeja showed some fight, the rest of the batsmen returned to the pavilion with a score of less than 15 runs.

India needed only 193 runs to win the match in the second innings. Here Yashasvi and Washington Sundar could not even open their account.

Nair scored 14, Shubman 6, Pant 9 and Nitish Reddy scored 13 runs. By the end of the fourth day, the team lost 4 wickets for 58 runs. Then in the first session of the fifth day also, they lost 3 wickets for 24 runs.

The team's defeat was confirmed as soon as the 8th wicket fell for 112 runs.

Reason-3:

The pitch kept getting tougher:

The Lord's pitch also became tough for the batsmen by the end of the match. On the first day, 251 runs were scored and 4 wickets fell.

That means on an average, 1 wicket fell for 63 runs. On the second day, the average fell to 31. On the third day of the match, the average rose slightly to 35. On the fourth day, it came down to 18.

On the fourth day, England lost 10 wickets and India lost 4 wickets. Then in the first session of the fifth day also, India lost 4 wickets in making 54 runs.

That means the average on the last day was just 14 runs. The main reason for the batsmen's trouble was the bounce and swing of Lord's. Which kept changing with each day. It is also clear from the statistics that the pitch became difficult for batting. Therefore, England got the advantage of winning the toss and batting first.

Reason-4:

Return of Jofra Archer:

Stokes' bowling Fast bowler Jofra Archer has returned to England's Test team after 4 years. He sent Yashasvi Jaiswal to the pavilion in his very first over in the first innings.

He bowled 6 maidens in 23.2 overs and took 2 wickets at an economy of just 2.22.

In the second innings, Archer found a great rhythm. He once again got Yashasvi Jaiswal caught. Then on the fifth day of the match, he sent Rishabh Pant and Washington Sundar to the pavilion.

He bowled Pant, while he caught Sundar on his own bowling. In the second innings, Archer got good support from captain Ben Stokes. Who bowled 24 overs and took 3 wickets for just 48 runs. Stokes and Archer both took 5-5 wickets in the match.

Reason-5:

While Team India's lower order batsmen have been disappointing throughout the series, England is scoring high with the help of these same batsmen.

In the first innings, the team lost 7 wickets for 271 runs. From here, Brydon Carse took over the innings with Jamie Smith and took the team past 350.

Cars scored 56 and Smith scored 51 runs. Cars played shots freely and took the team's score to 387 runs. On the other hand, India could score only 11 runs even after losing 6 wickets.

In the second innings, the lower order of both the teams flopped.

India gave more extra runs in both the innings. The team gave 18 extra runs in the first innings excluding 13 leg byes. In the second innings, this increased to 26. That means 44 extra runs in the match.

Whereas England gave only 18 extra runs. If we count the extras of leg byes, India gave 63, whereas England gave only 30 extra runs. India lost the match by just 22 runs.
