RS Polls, Tripura: Rajib Bhattacharya Is The Candidate of BJP

Ending much speculation, the BJP announced its candidate for the only vacant seat in the Rajya Sabha of Tripura. 

The name of the candidate for the vacant seats in the Rajya Sabha were announced on Tuesday through a circular signed by BJP state general secretary Arun Singh. 

BJP has nominated state BJP president Rajib Bhattacharya for the only vacant seat in Tripura.

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and state BJP congratulated Rajib Bhattacharya. He will contest the upcoming Rajya Sabha polls for the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Bhattacharya contested the 2023 assembly election from Banmalipur assembly seat. But was defeated by Congress candidate Gopal Roy. This time he got a chance to fight not by the people's vote, but by the MLA's vote. 

Apart from Tripura, the names of BJP candidates from Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar, Haryana, Rajasthan, Telangana and Odisha are announced on Tuesday. 

The election will be held on September 3. Voting will start from 9 am. It will continue until four in the afternoon.

Counting will start from 5 pm. The result will be declared on this day.

The last day for filing nominations is 21 August. Scrutiny will be on 22 August. The election process will conclude on September 6 after taking the votes and declaring the results on September 3. 

Ruling and opposition political parties will fight for a single seat in Tripura. 

It may be noted that after the resignation of MP Biplab Kumar Deb from the post of Rajya Sabha MP, the state's only seat in the Rajya Sabha became vacant. Since then speculations were rife as to who would be the candidate for Tripura's sole seat in the Rajya Sabha. 

Finally, ending all speculations, the BJP on Tuesday announced the name of Rajib Bhattacharya as its candidate for the only vacant seat in the state of Tripura
