Russian President Putin Visits North Korea After 24 Years Amid US Sanction

Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in North Korea for the first visit in 24 years. According to the Russian news agency, the two countries want to work together to overcome US-led sanctions in the face of growing confrontation with Washington.

Putin was greeted by North Korean leader Kim Jong Un at Pyongyang airport, according to news agencies RIA-Novosti and Interfax. 

Putin is on his first visit to North Korea in 24 years. North Korea praised the country's firm support for its military actions in Ukraine. The visit comes after North Korean supreme leader Kim Jong Un invited Putin to visit in September 2023. 

According to the experts, Putin's visit comes amid growing concerns about the arms deal. Streets in Pyongyang, the capital of North Korea, were decorated with pictures of Putin and Russian flags. 

A banner on a building said... 'We warmly welcome the President of the Russian Federation.' Putin said that Russia and North Korea will develop a trade and payment system that will not be controlled by the West. This will benefit both countries in every dimension.

Putin's aide Yuri Ushakov also held a press conference on Monday. During this, Ushakov commented on his visit to North Korea. 

He said, the agenda of his visit to be very important. Both leaders are planning to sign a new strategic partnership. Its aim is to ensure more stability in Northeast Asia.
