Saha Tells Bengal to Learn From Tripura on Opposition Safety

Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Friday launched a sharp attack on the Trinamool Congress (AITC), accusing it of spreading falsehoods and provoking unrest while urging the West Bengal government to take lessons from Tripura on how to ensure the safety and security of opposition leaders.

Speaking to reporters after inaugurating the renovated College Tilla Lake premises in Agartala, Saha said, “They (AITC) tell lie after lie to serve their political interests. In North Bengal, the Trinamool orchestrated attacks on two of our leaders and provoked people from a particular section to indulge in violence. It’s an open secret.”

Referring to the recent visit of AITC leaders to Tripura, the Chief Minister accused them of trying to manufacture unrest.
“They brought a tribal leader to create chaos and portray Tripura as lawless. But the reality is different. A brief scuffle took place in front of their party office, which usually remains deserted. It was a spontaneous reaction, not a pre-planned attack,” Saha said.

He asserted that police handled the situation with sensitivity and ensured full protection for the visiting delegation.
“The police acted swiftly. We provided security to the Trinamool leaders, and no untoward incident occurred during their visit,” he added.

Taking a swipe at the CPI(M), Saha said the Left had lost touch with ground realities.
“They have no connection with society but remain hyperactive on social media. Online presence doesn’t translate into political relevance,” he remarked.

The Chief Minister also said the state government has allocated substantial funds to the Agartala Municipal Corporation and 12 other civic bodies for upgrading urban amenities.
“Agartala has undergone a major transformation in recent years. Once all the allocated funds are utilized, urban bodies across the state will see significant improvement,” he noted.

Expressing concern over rising anti-social activities along the Bishalgarh highway, Saha directed authorities to take stringent measures to curb the menace.
