'Sarkari Parivar': Rahul Gandhi Hits Modi Govt 3.0

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday attacked the Modi government over dynastic politics and called the NDA Cabinet a "family council". He pointed out that many ministers in the third term of the Modi government belong to political families.

Rahul Gandhi said in a post in Hindi on Twitter, "People who call the tradition of struggle, service and sacrifice of generations as nepotism are dividing the desire for power within their 'sarkari parivar' (government family)." He said, "This difference between words and deeds is what Narendra Modi calls."

In his post, Gandhi named former Prime Minister HD Devegowda's son HD Kumaraswamy, former Union Minister Madhav Rao Scindia's son Jyotiraditya Scindia, Arunachal Pradesh's first Protem Speaker Rinchin Kharu's son Kiren Rijiju, former Maharashtra Minister Eknath Khadse's daughter-in-law Raksha Khadse, former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh's grandson Jayant Chaudhary, former Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan's son Chirag Paswan and former MP and Madhya Pradesh Minister Jayshree Banerjee's son-in-law J P Nadda as part of the NDA's "Parivaar Mandal".

Rahul Gandhi said that in this list he has also included the names of former Bihar Chief Minister Karpoori Thakur's son Ram Nath Thakur, former Union Minister Teren Naidu's son Ram Mohan Naidu, former MP Jitendra Prasad's son Jitin Prasad, former Haryana Chief Minister Rao Birendra Singh's son Rao Indrajit Singh, former Union Minister Ved Prakash Goyal's son Piyush Goyal, former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh's grandson Ravneet Singh Bittu, Apna Dal founder Sonelal Patel's daughter Anupriya Patel and former Uttar Pradesh Minister Maharaj Anand Singh's son Kirti Vardhan Singh.

Rahul Gandhi's post comes in response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi accusing the Congress of doing "dynastic politics" during the election campaign for the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections.
