Sindhu Won Second Consecutive Match In Badminton World Championship

Double Olympic medalist PV Sindhu of India has entered the Round of 16 of the BWF World Championship. She knocked out Malaysia's Letshana Karupthewan in straight games in the Round of 32 match of the women's singles on Wednesday.

Indian pairs found success in the mixed doubles and men's doubles events at the Adidas Arena in Paris. World number-9 India's men's doubles pair of Satwik and Chirag also entered the Round of 16.

At one point in the first game, the Malaysian player was leading 18-13. Sindhu made a comeback from here and won the first game 21-19. In the second game, Sindhu took the lead from the beginning. She was leading 11-6 till the half stage. Then she won the second game 21-15 and won the match.

The mixed doubles Indian pair of Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Kristo also won in the Round of 32. Both defeated the pair of Joshua Magee and Mouya Ryan of Ireland by 21-11, 21-16. In the Round of 16, both will face Tang Chun Min and Se Ying Sut of Hong Kong on Thursday.

In men's doubles, the world number-9 Indian pair of Satwik Sairaj and Chirag Shetty also entered the next round. They defeated Chinese Taipei's Kuang Heng and Yang Po Han in straight games and knocked them out. Both won the first game by a close margin of 22-20. Then they won the second game by 21-13 and entered the round of 16.

in the Round of 32. India is still at 1-1 in men's singles and doubles. HS Prannoy will face world number-2 Denmark's Anders Antonsen in singles. Before him, India's Lakshya Sen had to face defeat from world number-1 China's Shi Yu Qi in the Round of 64.
