Situation In Bangladesh Increased Concern For NE States: Assam CM

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the current situation in Bangladesh has increased the concern of the northeastern states.

Bangladesh can now again become a center for militants and they can enter these states illegally. But we hope that the central government will pay attention to the concerns of the northeastern states. It will also hold talks with the new government of Bangladesh.

During a program in Dergaon, the Assam CM said that the current developments in Bangladesh have raised concerns. If the problem continues, we fear that Assam will be affected by it. The India-Bangladesh border should be protected, as people from there may try to enter Assam illegally through the border. He said that during the rule of Sheikh Hasina, the militants were forced to leave Bangladesh. I am confident that the new government of Bangladesh will also continue its cooperation with India.

He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the concerns of the northeastern states will be addressed and Bangladesh will not be allowed to become a safe haven for militants. The Chief Minister had earlier posted on Twitter that in these current situations, I think about the future of Assam in 2041 regarding Bangladesh border security. He said that I pray for strength and patience to move forward in the present. We will lay the foundation of a bright tomorrow and protect our culture and religion.

Let us tell you that the death toll in protests in Bangladesh has crossed 400. Efforts are being made by the army to control the situation. At the same time, after the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, President Mohammad Shahabuddin has appointed Nobel laureate Mohammad Yunus as the caretaker of the interim government.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that lakhs of youth got government jobs in the state and not a single allegation of corruption was made. At the passing out parade of Assam Forest Guard Force in Dergaon, the Chief Minister said that the entire recruitment process was fair, transparent. He alleged that a large educational and qualitative generation was deprived of government jobs during the Congress government. After analysis from 2001-2004, I found that 30-35 percent of the recruitments in Assam Police are done from a particular community. After this, the Assam government is giving priority to people of every community, religion and caste in the recruitment in police and forest guard forces. He asked the newly appointed 940 recruits to perform their responsibilities with devotion and wished them good luck. He said that the forest area in Assam is spread over an area of 26800 square km. We have to save the forests and diverse wildlife. Along with this, we have to stop illegal activities. The strength of Assam Forest Guard Force has doubled with the addition of 940 new constables. The special thing is that 10 percent of them are women. Now the number of soldiers in the forest guard force has increased from 784 to 1724. Soon we will prepare the third battalion of new recruits
