Situation In Manipur Worsening Again

The situation in Manipur is worsening again. After the warning of intelligence and security agencies, the government has banned internet services for five days. The conflict between the Kuki and Matei communities is intensifying there. The Union Home Ministry has also increased its vigilance to control the situation in Manipur.

The National Security Advisor Secretariat is also very serious about this northeastern state. In fact, the forces spreading instability in Manipur are not only using weapons like drones, rockets, small missiles, but there is information about some other weapons as well.

A senior official of the Ministry of External Affairs comes from Manipur. On the condition of anonymity, he says that Manipur has gone back 60-70 years. People of Christian, Muslim, Kuki, Meitei communities live in Manipur. The gap between them has become very wide.

An officer of the Government of India says that being a Manipuri, I am saying that the state government of Manipur and the central government of the country are both responsible for allowing this gap to widen. There is a clear line of division between the communities there among the police and security forces, the people serving the army. The senior officer says that both Meitei and Kuki are using different kinds of weapons.

According to the information received, weapons are reaching the rebels of Manipur from elements of Myanmar, Bangladesh, China.

The army in Myanmar is lagging behind in the fight against its rebels. The rebels are capturing the camps of the Myanmar army. Manipur's anarchist elements also have relations with these rebels. The same is the situation of Rohingya Muslims of Bangladesh. Sources in the security agency say that Rohingya and some anarchist elements of Manipur have had relations in the past regarding drugs, weapons etc.

It is said that evidence of Chinese weapons is also being found in the weapons recovered from the people of Manipur. After all, who is providing weapons including mortars, snipers, IDs, rifles, pistols? Earlier, people in Manipur also attacked the CRPF camp. Today, a crowd of students was going to the Raj Bhavan. During the protest, there was a clash between the students and the security forces. During this, there were attacks on each other from both sides. How will peace come in Manipur?

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has been a footballer. He belongs to the Meitei community. The Meitei and Kuki communities do not want to see each other in a hostile manner. The people of the Meitei community have a greater share in the police, administration and influential places. Whereas the Kukis are lagging behind in this matter. The Kuki community accuses the Manipur police and administrative officials of favouring the Meitei.

They hoped that the central government would take the right steps in this direction. It would take initiatives to create a balance. But such measures did not seem to be effective. After the intervention of the central government, central paramilitary forces were deployed in Manipur. In a way, a buffer zone was created between the Kukis and the Meitei. The security forces made efforts for operations and peace building in their own way, but they are proving to be insufficient. The situation there can also be understood from this statement of Manipur IG (Operations) IK Muivah.

Muivah says that it is not right to call the Manipur Police as Meitei or Kuki Police. This force also includes Meitei, Kuki, Naga, Manipuri Muslim, non-Manipuri, Hindu, Christian. It is clear that there is something to be said about this as well
