Special Task Force Formed To Identify Infiltrators: Tripura Chief Minister

"Special Task Force has been formed to identify infiltrators in Tripura. The government is making maximum efforts to prevent infiltration."

This is how Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha reacted to infiltration while participating in the traditional Ker Puja at Rajbari (Ujjayanta Palace) on Saturday

On this day, the Chief Minister said that the Central Government has informed that those who came to India as migrants from Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh till December 31, 2014 will be given recognition. Migrants who came after that will not be given recognition. Because, minorities living in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh are being persecuted. This means that infiltration in Tripura is not desirable in any way. Even, all the district magistrates and police officers of the state have been instructed to increase vigilance.

He further said that the situation regarding infiltration is being constantly reviewed with the security forces and the Border Guard. Due to their efforts, the number of infiltrations has significantly reduced. Infiltrations into the state have not increased much in the past few months, but have decreased slightly.

On this day, he said about the traditional Ker Puja also. "Ker Puja is not just a festival, it is closely related to the spiritual and cultural heritage of Tripura. Basically, Ker Puja begins as the spiritual next step after Kharchi Puja. Which starts from the 14th day after the end of Kharchi Puja. It is organized through a strict ritual. Which preserves ancient beliefs and customs. Some specific areas including Agartala Rajbari where this puja is held" he said

He added that Ker Puja is not limited to the tribal traditions of Tripura, but is a symbol of unity and collective well-being for all citizens. This puja brings people together. It plays a role in building social cohesion in the state.
