Starlink Device Recovered From Manipur

Security forces in Manipur have recovered a Starlink-like internet device, sniper rifles, pistols, grenades and other weapons from Imphal East district, people familiar with the matter said on Tuesday. They said the recovery of Starlink-like equipment has prompted the concerned agencies to investigate how the device reached the conflict-torn state. They said Starlink does not have a license to operate in India.

There is no official confirmation whether this is the real Starlink device or not. It is being said that this recovery was made on December 13 during a search operation in Imphal East.

Starlink, owned by Elon Musk's aerospace company SpaceX, is the world's first satellite constellation that provides broadband internet anywhere in the world where it is licensed to operate the service. Security forces recently seized some internet devices along with arms and ammunition during a raid at Keirao Khunou in Imphal East district. The Indian Army's Spear Corps shared photos of the seized items on X. One of the devices had the Starlink logo.

An ex-user on social media said that Starlink is being used by terrorists. Hopefully Elon Musk will look into this and help control the misuse of this technology. To this, Musk replied, "This is wrong. Starlink satellite beams over India have been turned off." Let us tell you that Musk's Starlink, which provides satellite internet services, does not have a license to operate in India.

In a post on X, the Dimapur-headquartered Spear Corps posted pictures of the items recovered in the search operation, including an internet device with the Starlink logo. The Spear Corps further said that 29 weapons including snipers, automatic weapons, rifles, pistols, country-made mortars, single barrel rifles, grenades, ammunition and war-like stores were recovered in the operation
