Supreme Court Granted Interim Bail To Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal Till June 1, 2024

Delhi CM and Aam Aadmi Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal, who was in jail in the liquor scam, has got a big relief from the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court has granted interim bail to the Delhi CM till June 1, 2024. After this Arvind Kejriwal has come out of jail.

The court has asked CM Arvind Kejriwal to surrender on June 2. Also, a surety bond of ₹ 50,000 will have to be deposited. The Supreme Court bench of Sanjeev Khanna and Dipankar Dutta has given this verdict on the money laundering case related to Delhi Liquor Policy.

Let us tell you that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had arrested CM Arvind Kejriwal on March 21.

During the hearing in the Supreme Court, ED opposed the grant of interim bail to Kejriwal on the basis of election campaign.

ED said that there is no such example before. However, the Supreme Court said ED that granting interim bail to Kejriwal for 21 days will not make much difference.

CM Arvind Kejriwal's lawyer Shadan Farasat said that interim bail is being granted for 20 days. No restrictions have been imposed on what he will say or not in the election campaign. He has been granted interim bail till June 2.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, who was appearing on behalf of ED, had said in the last hearing that no concession can be given just because Kejriwal is the Chief Minister.

Tushar Mehta asked whether the Supreme Court was making exceptions for politicians. At the same time, the Supreme Court bench did not accept the request of Arvind Kejriwal's lawyer Abhishek Singhvi that he be granted interim bail till June 5, a day after the counting of votes on June 4.

The Supreme Court has said in the decision on interim bail that if Arvind Kejriwal gets bail then he cannot fulfill his official responsibilities as CM. He cannot visit the Chief Minister's Office or Delhi Secretariat. He will sign any official files, even those required to obtain clearance or approval certified by LG.

Apart from this, he should not comment on his role in the case. Apart from this, Arvind Kejriwal cannot approach any interview and cannot influence the matter in any way.
