T20 WC 2024: Pat Cummins Creats History Taking Hat-tric As Aus Beat Bangladesh

Australia has written the story of its dominance as expected. It has defeated Bangladesh in its first match of the Super-8 of T20 World Cup 2024. It rained in the match but it could not save Bangladesh from defeat as it was too late by then. The result of the match came out on Duckworth Lewis, in which Australia defeated Bangladesh by 28 runs. With this victory over Bangladesh, Australia has also defeated Team India.

Bangladesh's first wicket fell on the third ball of the match. After this, however, there was a half-century partnership for the second wicket. But, as soon as it broke, Bangladesh's batting became worse. Bangladesh's most successful batsmen were captain Shanto and Tauheed. Both of them scored 40 and 41 runs respectively. Bangladesh scored 140 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs.

Out of the 8 wickets that Bangladesh lost, 3 wickets were taken by Pat Cummins, which came as a hat-trick. Apart from this, Adam Zampa took 2 wickets, while Starc, Maxwell and Stoinis got 1 wicket each.

Now Australia had a target of 141 runs. Chasing this target, the opening pair of Travis Head and David Warner added 65 runs for the first wicket to the score board. Head was dismissed after scoring 31 runs in 21 balls, which included 3 fours and 2 sixes. His wicket was taken by Rishad Hussain. Rishad also dismissed captain Mitchell Marsh in his next over, who could score only 1 run.

David Warner was still playing with 53 runs off 35 balls and Maxwell with 14 runs off 6 balls when it started raining. During this time Australia's score was 100 runs for 2 wickets in 11.2 overs. Meaning victory was not far away. But, the match stopped here and could not be started again. The result was that Australia was declared the winner. Pat Cummins, who took a hat-trick in the match, was chosen as the Player of the Match.

Meanwhile Pat Cummins created history on the morning of 21 June 2024 (Indian time) at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua.
