T20 WC: India Beats Australia By 24 Runs. To Play Semifinal Against England

The 51st match of T20 World Cup 2024 was played between India and Australia. In this exciting match played at Darren Semi National Cricket Stadium in St. Lucia, India performed brilliantly and defeated Australia by 24 runs. India will play England in the second semi-final in Guyana on 27 June.

With this win, India has made it to the semi-finals. At the same time, Australia is almost out of this tournament.

In this match, India batted first and set a huge target of 206 runs for Australia. In reply, Australia could only score 181 runs after losing 7 wickets in 20 overs. Once again Travis Head batted strongly for Australia and scored 76 runs in 43 balls with the help of four sixes and 9 fours. 

As long as Head was batting, it seemed that he would snatch the match from India. But after his dismissal, the Australian batting faltered.

Apart from Head, captain Mitchell Marsh contributed 37 runs in 28 balls, Glenn Maxwell contributed 20 runs in 12 balls and Tim David contributed 15 runs in 11 balls. 

No other batsman could even touch the double digit mark. For India, Arshdeep Singh took three wickets for 37 runs in four overs. Kuldeep Yadav took two wickets for just 24 runs in four overs. 

Apart from these two, Jaspreet Bumrah and Akshar Patel got one wicket each.

Earlier, India had scored 205 runs for five wickets in 20 overs. For India, captain Rohit Sharma played an innings of 92 runs in just 41 balls with the help of eight sixes and seven fours. Apart from him, 

Suryakumar Yadav scored 31 runs in 16 balls, Shivam Dubey scored 28 runs in 22 balls and Hardik Pandya scored an unbeaten 27 runs in 17 balls. For Australia, Starc and Stoinis took two wickets each. Josh Hazlewood took one wicket.

With this win, India has opened the way for Afghanistan to the semi-finals. Now both Australia and Afghanistan have two points each. The last match of Super 8 will be played between Afghanistan and Bangladesh on Tuesday. 

If Afghanistan wins this match to be played at St. Vincent ground in Kingstown, it will secure a place in the semi-finals and Australia will be out of this T20 World Cup.
