Tension In Dhubri: Assam CM Directs Shoot And Sight Order

In view of the tension in Dhubri, Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has given a shoot and sight order against the miscreants.

He said that the shoot at sight order will remain in force at night in Dhubri district bordering Bangladesh. Because a "communal group" is trying to spread unrest, which the government will not tolerate.

Let us tell you that on Sunday, people protested after pieces of meat were found near a temple in Dhubri city.

The Chief Minister visited Dhubri on Friday to review the situation. The CM also said that Rapid Action Force (RAF) and CRPF personnel will be deployed in the district.

At the same time, all the criminals in Dhubri will be arrested. Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said that on June 7, the day after Bakrid, a cow's head was found in front of the Hanuman temple in the district headquarters.

After this, both Hindu and Muslim groups had appealed for peace and harmony.

Sarma said that the next day a cow's head was again placed in front of the temple and stones were thrown at night. Sarma said that a day before Bakrid, an organization called 'Nabina Bangla' had put up "provocative posters" highlighting its aim to include Dhubri in Bangladesh.

Sarma alleged that earlier also some people used to eat beef during Bakrid, but this time thousands of cattle have been brought from West Bengal and a 'new beef mafia' has emerged in Dhubri, which has purchased thousands of animals just before the festival. It has come to my notice and I have ordered an inquiry into it. I have instructed the officers to arrest the person who started this cattle trade.
