The Indian Football Team is 124 in FIFA Rankings

The Indian football team remained at 124th position in the FIFA men's rankings released on Thursday, while defending world champions and Copa America winners Argentina consolidated their top spot. 

The Indian men's national football team had slipped three places in the FIFA rankings released in June after failing to qualify for the third round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Qatar and Afghanistan. India have been sliding in the rankings since December last year.

The Indian team reached the top 100 last year with its best ranking being 99. But since then it has continued to slip. India remains at 22nd place in Asia, behind Lebanon, Palestine and Vietnam. 

Argentina has strengthened its hold on the top spot in the rankings after successfully retaining the Copa America title. France (second ranking) is in second place after reaching the semi-finals of Euro 2024. 

Recently crowned European champions Spain have gained five places to reach third place. England, which lost to them, has moved up one place to fourth place and has overtaken Brazil, which has slipped one place to fifth. 

Belgium is sixth, Netherlands seventh, Portugal eighth and Colombia ninth in the rankings
