Leaders of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) have lodged an FIR with the Additional Superintendent of Police at the New Capital Complex Police Station in Agartala, following an attack on the party’s state headquarters on Chaittaranjan Road. The delegation has urged strict action against those responsible for the incident.

The TMC delegation also met UK Chakma, Secretary to Tripura Governor Indra Sen Reddy Nallu, seeking the Governor’s intervention to ensure the safety of party leaders and justice for the vandalism at their office. The team further raised concerns over the assault on senior party leader Abhishek Banerjee during his recent visit to Tripura, warning that they would approach the courts if police fail to act.
The attack took place amid heightened political tensions in the region, following recent assaults on BJP MPs and MLAs in North Bengal. The Trinamool alleged that its office in Agartala was targeted soon after these incidents.

Addressing the media after filing the FIR, TMC spokesperson and West Bengal General Secretary Kunal Ghosh said, “The police could have acted suo motu, but no steps have been taken. Despite the attack happening in full view of law enforcement, no one has been apprehended.” He reiterated that the party had no connection with the North Bengal incident and condemned all forms of violence.
During a meeting with senior police officials, TMC spokesperson Sudip Raha pointed out that while four arrests have been made in connection with the North Bengal attacks, none have occurred in Tripura so far.

Party MP Sushmita Dev added that a BJP spokesperson had publicly admitted to vandalizing TMC banners and posters in Agartala, yet police have taken no action.
TMC leaders questioned whether those aligned with the ruling party were being shielded, demanding immediate intervention by the authorities. They cautioned that the party would seek judicial recourse if the perpetrators are not brought to justice.
