Total 10,162 Candidates Submits Nomination For Panchayat Polls in Tripura

Tripura State Election Commission informed that total 10,162 nominations have been filed for the upcoming Three-tier Panchayat elections in the state. Out of this, 8992 nominations  submitted for Gram Panchayat, 787 for Panchayat Samiti and 383 for Zilla Parishad. 

According to the latest data received by the State Election Commission, BJP has filed 6343 nominations, CPIM 1437, Congress 809, Tipra Motha 231, CPIM(L)I 4, CPI 3, CPI(ML) 4 and independents 161 seats for gram panchayats elections.

Similarly, BJP has filed nominations in 435 seats, CPIM for 205 seats, Congress in 112 seats, Tipra Motha in 17 seats, CPIM(L)I in 2 seats, CPI in 3 seats and independent candidates in 14 seats for Panchayat Samiti elections.

For Zilla Parishad elections BJP has filed in 159 seats, CPIM in 115, Congress in 98, Tipra Motha 3, CPI 1, Amara Bengali 2 and independent candidates in 5 seats.

Notable that the ruling party BJP won unopposed in the Gram Panchayat elections in 4 blocks. In the village panchayats of Boxanagar, Jolaibari, Nalchar and Tepania blocks, no party other than the BJP able to submitted nominations. 

Likewise, the ruling party BJP won unopposed in the panchayat samiti elections in 11 blocks. Bamutia, Boxanagar, Charilam, Dukli, Durga Chowmuhani , Jirania, Kalyanpur, Nalchar, Old Agartala, Rajnagar and Tepania blocks did not receive nominations from any party other than the ruling BJP in the Panchayat Samiti elections
