Tripura Bandh To Mislead Tribals; Govt Stands Firm: CM

Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Wednesday strongly opposed the 24-hour bandh called by Tiprasa Civil Society scheduled on Thursday, 23rd October, terming it a politically motivated move to mislead tribal communities and disrupt public life.

In view of the seven-point demands raised by the Tiprasa Civil Society, a 24-hour statewide bandh has been announced under the leadership of MLA Ranjit Debbarma. However, the Tripura government has made it clear that it will not support the bandh.

Addressing the media, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said that such activities are attempts to gain attention and portray Tripura as a disturbed state before the nation.

“The development of the state cannot be stopped this way,” he asserted.

The Chief Minister accused certain groups of trying to intimidate the tribal population. Despite these pressures, he claimed, tribals are showing growing support for the BJP because of the government’s developmental efforts.

“The government is committed to maintaining peace and harmony,” Dr. Saha said, warning that any attempt to disrupt the state’s progress or peace will be dealt with firmly.
