Tripura Budget Session Scheduled from March 13–25

The Budget Session of the Tripura Legislative Assembly is set to convene from March 13 to March 25, comprising nine sittings of the House. The proceedings will commence with the traditional address by the Governor of Tripura, outlining the policy vision and priorities of the state government.

The schedule for the session was finalised at a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) held on Friday at the Assembly’s Conference Hall. The meeting was chaired by In-Charge Speaker Ramprasad Paul.

Briefing the media after the meeting, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ratan Lal Nath said the Governor’s address will set the tone for the session by presenting the government’s legislative and developmental agenda for the coming year.

The State Budget for the financial year 2026–27 will be tabled in the House on March 16 by Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy. Following the presentation, legislators will engage in detailed deliberations on both the Governor’s address and the Budget proposals.

According to the Parliamentary Affairs Minister, the session will also witness the introduction of several significant pieces of legislation. Among them are bills pertaining to the establishment and governance of Tripura Technical University, Tripura Women’s University, and Tripura Medical University.

The forthcoming budget session is expected to serve as a crucial platform for debating financial priorities, policy frameworks, and legislative measures aimed at accelerating the socio-economic development of the state. Discussions on the Governor’s address and the budgetary allocations are likely to spotlight key concerns relating to governance, infrastructure expansion, higher education, and public welfare in Tripura.
