Tripura: Chouhan Flags ₹546 Cr Rural Push Including VB-G-RAM-G

Tripura witnessed a significant boost in rural infrastructure and housing development as Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 179 rural development projects across the state. The total investment in these projects stands at ₹546.79 crore.

Addressing the gathering, the Union Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to accelerating development in rural areas.

He highlighted that under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), the current government is constructing pucca houses to ensure that no economically weaker family is forced to live in mud or adobe houses.

Responding to criticism surrounding the VB-G Ramji project, Chouhan stated that misinformation and false propaganda were being spread about the initiative. He asserted that the project is specifically designed to benefit tribals, backward classes, and economically disadvantaged sections of society, who will be its primary beneficiaries.

The 179 projects span various sectors of rural development, aimed at strengthening infrastructure, improving housing conditions, and enhancing overall socio-economic growth in the state.

The minister reiterated the Centre’s commitment to inclusive development, stating that the focus remains on uplifting marginalized communities and ensuring that the benefits of government schemes reach the grassroots level.
