Tripura CM Gives Strong Message Regarding Attack on Journalists, Puja Chanda

Extortion of Puja donations will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Strict legal action will be taken immediately upon receipt of complaints in this regard. Also, attacks on journalists while collecting news will also be dealt with strictly. The police have also been ordered to take strict action in the case of attack on journalists in East Agartala PS area.
Chief Minister Professor Dr. Manik Saha gave this strong message to the media in Agartala on the issue of extortion and attack on journalists.
It is to be noted that in the post-flood situation, in view of the upcoming Shardotsava, recently complaints of extortion started coming from different parts of the state.
Complaints of forcible chanda by stopping cars at several places on the national highway. Also, four journalists on duty were attacked by a group of miscreants in the capital's East Agartala PS area late last Sunday.
Chief Minister Dr. Saha gave a strong reaction to these issues while exchanging views with journalists.
He said, you know what kind of person I am. And aware of the mood of our government. Extortion will not be tolerated under any circumstances. I came to know that vehicles are being stopped on the National Highway in Teliamura and Kumarghat. I immediately direct the concerned Superintendent of Police to take action against those involved in the incident. Because such incidents cannot be accepted.
The chief minister also said that there have been attacks on journalists as well. After hearing this news, I direct strict action against the accused. Police have arrested the accused. No one will be spared in such an incident. Attacks on journalists will not be tolerated under any circumstances. The accused will not be spared irrespective of the party they belong to. Clear instructions have been given in this regard.
Dr. Saha said, you have seen it before. And still watching. The culture that started in the state during the 35-year rule of the previous government has become a habit of many. Therefore, the present government is trying to maintain a peaceful atmosphere in all parts of the state
