Manik Saha, the Chief Minister of Tripura, on Wednesday held a telephonic conversation with Nayab Singh Saini, Chief Minister of Haryana, concerning the alleged brutal assault of a young woman from Tripura in Gurugram.
Dr. Saha stated that his Haryana counterpart assured him of a personal review of the matter and the initiation of all necessary legal measures to ensure that justice is delivered to the victim without delay.
The Tripura Chief Minister also spoke with the victim’s mother, conveying the State Government’s unwavering support and assuring her of comprehensive assistance during this distressing period.
He further directed the Chief Resident Commissioner at Tripura Bhawan, New Delhi, to remain in close coordination with the family and facilitate all required logistical and administrative support.
At the Chief Minister’s behest, Social Welfare Minister Tinku Roy visited the hospital to assess the victim’s condition and extend institutional support.
Additionally, Dr. Saha communicated with the office of the Union Health Minister to secure the highest standard of medical treatment for the survivor.
Meanwhile, the mother of the 19-year-old student—currently pursuing her studies in Gurugram—alleged that her daughter had been unlawfully confined and subjected to severe physical abuse for three consecutive days by a youth she had met online.
According to her account, the victim managed to place a distress call shortly before her condition deteriorated, expressing grave apprehension for her life.
The student was subsequently rescued, and the accused has been taken into custody. It has further been alleged that the accused, reportedly in a live-in relationship with the victim, confined her in a paying guest accommodation and inflicted extreme physical torture during the period of confinement.
