In a gesture of solidarity, the Tripura government has announced a financial aid of Rs 5 crore to support relief and rehabilitation efforts in flood-ravaged Himachal Pradesh.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said he had personally spoken to Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, conveying Tripura’s unwavering support during this crisis.
“The recent devastating floods have caused severe damage in Himachal Pradesh. My heartfelt condolences to the families who lost their loved ones. On behalf of the people of Tripura, we stand firmly with our brothers and sisters in Himachal Pradesh,” Saha said in a Facebook post.
The northeastern state’s contribution will go directly to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund of Himachal Pradesh to assist ongoing operations in areas devastated by 133 major landslides, 95 flash floods, and 45 cloudbursts since the monsoon set in on June 20.
Officials noted that the Rs 5 crore assistance reflects Tripura’s spirit of compassion, transcending geography to extend a lifeline to people in distress in another corner of the country.
