Tripura Eyes Organic State Goal With Patanjali Support

The Tripura government on Tuesday entered into two significant Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with Patanjali Yogpeeth Trust, marking a major step toward fostering multi-sectoral investment and strengthening forest- and agriculture-based value chains across the state.
According to officials, the Patanjali Group is expected to invest approximately ₹400 crore in Tripura, primarily in the agriculture and forest sectors. The MoUs were formally signed in the presence of Chief Minister Prof. (Dr) Manik Saha, with agreements executed between the state’s Industries and Commerce Department and Forest Department, and Patanjali Yogpeeth Trust.

The MoU on behalf of the Industries and Commerce Department was signed by Director Dr Deepak Kumar, while Principal Chief Conservator of Forests R.K. Samal represented the Forest Department. Patanjali Yogpeeth Trust was represented by its Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Acharya Balkrishna. The signing ceremony took place at the conference hall of the Tripura Institution for Transformation, in the presence of Industries and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma, OSD to the Chief Minister Paramananda Sarkar Banerjee, senior government officials, and representatives of the Patanjali Group.

Addressing the media after the ceremony, Chief Minister Prof. (Dr) Manik Saha reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to building a “New Tripura” in alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a “New India.” He highlighted Tripura’s rich natural resource base and its vast, untapped potential across multiple sectors.
The Chief Minister noted that the government is actively working to unlock these opportunities to accelerate economic growth and sustainable development. He furtheremphasizeld ongoing efforts to attract investments from outside the state while enhancing Tripura’s visibility at both national and international platforms.
Reiterating the government’s guiding philosophy of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas,” Saha underscored the administration’s resolve to ensure inclusive and holistic development. He expressed optimism that the MoUs would pave the way for new growth avenues and significantly contribute to the state’s long-term progress.
Chief Minister Saha also stated that with Patanjali Yogpeeth Trust’s proposed investment of around ₹400 crore, Tripura could potentially evolve into an ‘organic state’ in the near future.
Speaking on the occasion, Acharya Balkrishna expressed strong interest in partnering with the Tripura government to unlock the state’s developmental potential. He said Patanjali Yogpeeth Trust is keen to collaborate in diverse areas including agriculture, religious tourism, information technology, and skill development.
He assured the state government of Patanjali’s full cooperation in transforming Tripura into a model state, contributing to sustainable growth and socio-economic advancement in the years ahead.
