Tripura: Festival Turns Violent, Woman Molested, Husband Beaten in Agartala

During the festive season of Durga puja, hooliganism with visitors created chaos at the Netaji Play Forum premises in the capital Agartala under West Tripura District of Tripura.

A female visitor, who had come with her family to enjoy the Durga Puja, was allegedly molested and beaten, her husband claimed.

According to the victim’s family, the confrontation began around 4 a.m. on Friday when they went on the roller coaster ride. While the woman, her elder brother, and her child were allowed on, her other two brothers were denied entry despite empty seats. When her husband and brother questioned the volunteers and operators, the organizers allegedly reacted aggressively.

The accused reportedly grabbed the husband by the throat, injuring him, and even attempted to molest the woman. The attackers were identified as Kaushik Acharya, Dwipayan Saha (alias Biltu), Sagar De, and Kishan Biswas, all local residents of the Radhanagar area.

The woman immediately dialed the police helpline. A team rushed to the spot, rescued the family, and shifted the injured couple first to IGM Hospital and later to GBP Hospital for treatment.

Police have arrested five persons connection with the incident.
