The Budget Session of the 2026–27 financial year of the Tripura Legislative Assembly is set to commence on March 13, marking the formal opening of the Ninth Session of the 13th Assembly. Administrative preparations are already underway in anticipation of the crucial proceedings.
On Monday, Tripura’s Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy convened a high-level coordination meeting at the State Secretariat. The meeting was attended by Transport, Tourism, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, along with senior officials from the concerned departments.
Deliberations primarily focused on draft estimates of departmental revenue and expenditure. The discussions included a comprehensive review of supplementary allocations for the 2025–26 fiscal year and budgetary projections for 2026–27. Key aspects examined were sectoral expenditure priorities, anticipated revenue mobilisation, financial requirements of ongoing projects, and the feasibility of introducing new initiatives.

Speaking to The Tripurapost , Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy stated that all departments have been advised to submit realistic expenditure proposals aligned with development-oriented planning.
The session will open with an address by Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu, which is expected to outline the government’s policy priorities, development agenda, and administrative roadmap for the upcoming year.
The detailed schedule of the session, including the date of the Budget presentation and other legislative business, will be finalised at the meeting of the Business Advisory Committee on March 6. Although the Budget is traditionally presented on the opening day of the session, a final decision in this regard will be taken at that meeting.
Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy will present the full-fledged Budget for 2026–27 during the session. This will be the third Budget of the BJP-led government in its second term. The forthcoming Budget is expected to strike a balance between fiscal prudence and developmental imperatives, with focused investments in infrastructure, employment generation, social welfare, and tourism.
Unsurprisingly, the upcoming Budget Session has drawn considerable attention from political and administrative circles as well as the general public, as it will play a pivotal role in shaping Tripura’s developmental trajectory for the next financial year.
