Tripura Gets Major Tourism Boost as DoNER Clears ₹451-Crore Projects

Tripura’s tourism sector has received a major boost with the Union Ministry for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) approving 21 tourism projects worth ₹451 crore, one of the largest funding allocations for the state in recent years.

Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha said the approved projects would significantly upgrade tourism infrastructure across the state and open new avenues for sustainable economic growth. Of the total sanctioned amount, ₹267.5 crore will be funded by DoNER, while the remaining investment will be mobilised through the State government, the Ministry of Tourism, and Public-Private Partnership (PPP) initiatives.

“These projects mark another major milestone in strengthening Tripura’s tourism infrastructure and enhancing visitor experiences,” the Chief Minister said.

The approvals followed a detailed presentation of the Matabari Tourist Circuit Project before Union DoNER Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia. Taking to social media, Saha described the clearance as a landmark achievement for Tripura’s tourism development journey.

He expressed gratitude to the Union government and the State Tourism Department for their continued support, stating that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Tripura is witnessing rapid and holistic development across sectors.

The approved projects aim to improve connectivity, develop sustainable tourism infrastructure, and enrich tourist facilities, positioning Tripura more prominently on the national and international tourism map.
