Tripura Govt Decides to Distribute 9.5 Lakh Mosquito Nets Statewide to Prevent Malaria

In an important step Tripura government decides to distribute 9.5 lakh mosquito nets to prevent malaria. The Health Secretary Kiran Gitte held a video conference meeting with the District Magistrates of all the districts of the state in this regard. 

The meeting discussed the government's action plan for malaria prevention, evaluation of the measures taken and formulation of new programmes. 

The meeting discussed various important issues including speedy completion of release of larvivorous fish in various water bodies of the state, distribution of about  9.5 lakh mosquito nets, spraying of larvicide at various places.

It was informed in the meeting that preparations have been started from the National Health Mission Tripura  to control malaria in the state. 

Health Secretary Kiran Gitte visited North Tripura District and Dhalai District on May 14 and 15, 2024 to review the present condition.

During the districts visit, the health secretary exchanged opinions with the hospital authorities, people of the area, public representatives of the area and  directed the officials concerned to create awareness among the people by conducting health camps and door-to-door visits in the malaria prone areas. 

Moreover, on May 15, the Health Secretary held a meeting with National Health Mission Mission Director Rajib Dutta, Joint Director Binay Bhushan Das, Malaria State Program Officer Dr. Abhijit Das, Chief Health Officers of all districts, District Malaria Officers, Consultants and others. 

The meeting emphasized on spraying and fogging to control malaria, increasing malaria testing, regular blood testing of children and pregnant women, increasing public awareness.
