Tripura: Meritorious Student Commits Suicide After Being Accused Of Theft Rs 20. FIR Lodged

Surma residents witnessed a heartbreaking incident. 

A class 10 student committed suicide by consuming pesticide after being accused of stealing Rs twenty.

The Incident took place in Kuchainala village of Kuchainala panchayat in Surma under Dhalai district of Tripura. 

His name is Roni Das. He was studying in class 10 of Kamalpur  XII School. He was 16 years old. He was also a brilliant student.

He went to Dhan Singh's shop in the village on Monday morning with Rs twenty  from his father Jewel Das. Suddenly, the shop owner caught him and took him to the shopkeeper's house behind the shop, accusing him of stealing Rs twenty  from the shop's cash box. 

It is believed that he was beaten and humiliated there. Then he was released. A carpenter in front of the shop witnessed the entire incident. 

After that, not finding any trace of Roni, his father Jewel Das went out in search of his son. 

At last Roni was found in critical condition as Jewel Das noticed that he was acting restless after consuming pesticides.

He was immediately taken to Kamalpur BSM Hospital. From there he was referred to Dhalai District Hospital. From there, he was referred to GBP hospital Agartala as his condition deteriorated sharply.
But he died that night. 

On Wednesday, Roni's father approached the Kamalpur police station seeking justice. 

The villagers, along with his father, have submitted a written application to the police station seeking justice after an investigation of the incident. 

We can't accept the such premature death of a teenager for just Rs twenty rupees-- said the villagers to The Tripura post.
