The Tripura Government has approved a major recruitment and educational expansion drive, announcing plans to fill 400 vacancies across various departments and upgrade two prominent colleges into universities.

The decisions were finalized during a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Manik Saha on Tuesday, Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury told reporters at the Civil Secretariat.
Chowdhury said the Tripura Institute of Technology, an engineering college, would be upgraded to a State Technical University, while the government-run Women’s College would be elevated to Women’s University. He added that the move aligns with the state’s ongoing efforts to strengthen higher education infrastructure.
“The chief minister has declared that over 19,000 jobs were rolled out under different categories. The process will continue,” the minister said.
As part of the 400 new vacancies, 97 posts—auditor, investigator, and statistical investigator—will be filled under the cooperation department on a fixed-pay basis through the Joint Recruitment Board of Tripura (JRBT).

“The department concerned will soon send a proposal to the JRBT for filling these posts. All these are Group C posts,” Chowdhury noted.
The Cabinet also cleared the filling of 28 supervisor posts under ICDS projects through the Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC). Additionally, 14 engineering posts in mechanical, civil, electrical, and public health disciplines will be filled under the urban development department.

In the cultural sector, the Tripura Film and Television Institute will appoint eight faculty members and eight support staff on a contractual basis. Faculty roles will include positions such as associate professor of screen acting, editor-cum-demonstrator, and senior technical officer.
Further expanding its social welfare outreach, the Government announced the opening of 119 new anganwadi centres, along with the appointment of an equal number of anganwadi workers and helpers.
The measures, officials said, are aimed at boosting employment, strengthening public service delivery, and expanding educational opportunities across the state.
