The Tripura Police has secured a major breakthrough in its probe into a high-risk explosives case, apprehending a suspected militant during a precision-led operation based on actionable intelligence.
According to the official sources, personnel from the TSR 13th Battalion intercepted Bhanlal Liana Riang, alias Arnajoy Riang (48), along the Damchhara–Kanchanpur road after detecting suspicious movement.
A subsequent search led to the seizure of incriminating materials linked to the Tripura Upajati Juba Samiti (TUNF).
Following the establishment of prima facie evidence, the accused was transferred to Bhangmun Police Station, where a formal case (No. 2025VGM007) has been registered.
Investigators have ascertained that the individual maintained active links with the TUNF militant network and was allegedly orchestrating acts of sabotage, including planned explosive attacks targeting police vehicles.
Authorities further revealed a broader plot to assault security personnel and expropriate arms and ammunition.
Key digital evidence, including the organization’s official seal, has been recovered from the accused. Significantly, explosive substances such as electric detonators and ‘Neogol-90’ had been seized earlier in connection with the case.
Security forces have since intensified combing operations to track down additional operatives linked to the network, as efforts continue to dismantle the entire militant infrastructure.
Officials reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to safeguarding public security and upholding law and order across the state.
