Tripura Presents ₹34,122 Crore Budget for 2026-27

The Government of Tripura has proposed a total outlay of ₹34,122.31 crore for the 2026–27 financial year, reflecting an increase of around 5.55 per cent over the previous year’s budget. To stimulate economic expansion and infrastructure development, the government has earmarked ₹8,940.92 crore for capital expenditure. The budget estimates a fiscal deficit of ₹240.72 crore, while refraining from introducing any new taxes.
Following a two-day recess in the Budget Session of the Tripura Legislative Assembly, Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy presented the State Budget for 2026–27 in the Assembly on Monday.
While outlining the financial roadmap, the Finance Minister announced an allocation of ₹2,482.50 crore for the health sector. The plan includes the establishment of a Critical Care Block at Khowai District Hospital and the creation of Trauma Care Centres at multiple locations across the state. The government also intends to set up Maternal and Child Health Wings, along with Geriatric and Diabetic Care Units at Agartala Government Medical College and Govind Ballabh Pant Hospital.
In the education sector, the government has proposed an allocation of ₹6,439.56 crore. The budget outlines plans to construct new school buildings and establish key institutions, including the Tripura Government Technical University, the Tripura Government Women’s University, and the Tripura University of Health Sciences, aimed at strengthening higher education and technical learning in the state.
To reinforce agriculture and rural development, the government has proposed the establishment of new rural markets, Farmers’ Knowledge Centres, and an Agriculture Farm Machinery Training Institute to promote modern agricultural practices.
The budget also prioritises the technology sector, with proposals to establish a Cyber Security Operation Centre, the Tripura IT & Data Ecosystem Zone (TIDEZ), and an IT Park under the Agartala AI City project, reflecting the state’s ambition to expand its digital and technological capabilities.
In addition, the government has placed emphasis on sports and infrastructure development, announcing plans for the construction of stadium galleries, synthetic football turfs, and several permanent bridges in rural areas to improve connectivity and sporting infrastructure.
The Budget Session of the Tripura Legislative Assembly commenced on March 13 with an address by the Governor of Tripura, Indra Sena Reddy Nallu.
