Tripura Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Friday urged for a peaceful and collaborative solution to the ongoing land dispute concerning Phuldungsei village in the Jampui Hills, a territory claimed by both Tripura and Mizoram. Speaking at the inauguration of the fourth edition of the Unity Promo Fest 2025 at Vanghmun Playground in North Tripura District, Chowdhury stressed the need for cooperative engagement between the Tripura and Mizoram governments, with potential support from the central government.
Highlighting the success of last year’s fest, Chowdhury announced plans to expand the programme, noting that this year’s event will run for two days at each location and feature a new design to accommodate increased public participation. “The response has encouraged us to hold this programme for two days at every location this year. As the night progresses, the turnout will be even higher,” he said.
Chowdhury underscored the strategic role of unity and collaboration in promoting tourism and enhancing community cohesion. He emphasized that peace, tranquillity, and brotherhood are essential for advancing Tripura’s tourism sector at both state and national levels.
On the development front, the minister credited significant progress in Tripura’s tourism infrastructure, hospitality, and cultural promotion since 2018, attributing these achievements to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Manik Saha.
Looking ahead, Chowdhury reiterated his commitment to resolving the Phuldungsei land dispute amicably. He stressed that mutual benefit and fraternity should guide the process: “If people from there can come here and earn money, it is beneficial for all. We believe in tranquillity, fraternity, and togetherness. By isolating Mizoram, Meghalaya, or any other state or community, we cannot make India a Vishwa Guru, which is the dream of PM Modi. We must settle the dispute amicably.”
The minister’s remarks reflect Tripura’s ongoing emphasis on regional cooperation, tourism-led development, and the broader vision of national unity, aligning with the “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat” initiative.
