Tripura: Two Jail Police Officials Arrested in Connection of Notorious, Convicted NLFT Militant Flee Case

Two jail police officials of Central Correctional Home, Bishalgarh has has been arrested in connection with Swarna Kumar Tripura, the accused NLFT militant convicted in the murder of a policeman, who escaped from the central correctional home in Bishalgarh on Tuesday. 

They are identified as Central Correctional Home Warden Tapan Rupini and Guard Commander Mohammad Mofiz Mia.

Notable that in 2014, when the police arrested Swarna Kumar Tripura in a case of theft, he was lodged in the central correctional home at Bishalgarh by the order of the court.

But he escaped from the Central Penitentiary. Then the police arrested him again in connection with the murder of a police man Ankya Mag. The court found him guilty and sentenced him in that case. 

Once again he was placed in the Central Correctional Home. Four years ago he escaped from the Central Correctional Home for the second time. Then the police from outside the state arrested him and brought him back to the state. 

He was remanded in custody at the Central Correctional Home. But he escaped for the third time due to the negligence of the jail police working in the central correctional Home.

Swarna Kumar Tripura was found absent on Tuesday ie May 14 morning  while confirming the presence of the inmates of the Central Correctional Home. 

The matter came to the notice of Debashish Shil, Jailor of Central Correctional Home and Nantu Das, Sub Jailor. 

Then the police investigation started. A large police force of Bishalgarh police station including Superintendent of Police, IG Prison of Sepahijala district rushed to the Central Correctional Home. 

The search operation has started. Meanwhile, on Tuesday evening, Jail Superintendent and Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Bishalgarh Rakesh Chakraborty filed a complaint against Central Correctional Home Warden Tapan Rupini and Guard Commander Mohammad Mofiz Mia at Bishalgarh Police Station after examining the CCTV footage of the correctional Home. 

Following the complaint, Bishalgarh police station investigated the incident and arrested the two accused. The OC of Bishalgarh police station said that after the written complaint was submitted to the police station, Warden Tapan Rupini and Guard Commander Mohammad Mofiz Mia were arrested as part of the investigation. 

The incident is under investigation. After noon on Wednesday, the Bishalgarh Police Station requested for four-day police remand and handed over the arrested persons to the Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Court. 

It is noted that the house of accused Swarna Kumar Tripura is in Chhota Sakbari area of ​​Manu Bazar in South Tripura district. 

There are multiple cases against absconding accused Swarna Kumar Tripura. Police are still trying to nab absconding accused Swarna Kumar Tripura.
