Tripura: Villages, Hills Are Plunged Into Darkness. Remal Exposed TSECL

Cyclone Remal's impact caused power outages in the entire Tripura, including the capital Agartala. Besides the weak infrastructure of Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited has been exposed.

Due to the effect of Remal, the power outage begins in the entire state from Monday morning. Heavy rain accompanied by gusty winds started at around 9 pm on Monday night causing power outages.

Due to storm with heavy rains in the capital city Agartala and in different parts of the state, large trees and branches of trees fell on power lines, causing extensive damage to power lines and poles. 

Electricity poles are broken. The electricity cable is torn. After being without electricity for about 40 hours, the power service in the capital city of Agartala and its suburbs started to be normal, but in the rural and hilly areas of the state are suffering a lot due to no power.

Electricity service has not been normal till now i.e Wednesday morning. The entire villages and hills of the state are plunged into darkness. People spend their days in misery from Monday to Tuesday due to lack of electricity. 

Due to the very weak administrative and technical infrastructure of Vidyut Nigam, it took 30-40 hours to restore the electricity service in the capital city  Agartala itself and the suburbs areas. 

The situation is the same in the district and Sub-Divisional Headquarters. The electricity service in the villages and hills has been completely disrupted. 

As the power corporation does not have the infrastructure, even the local power corporation officials are concerned about when the electricity service in villages and hills will be normal.
 

The entire villages and hills of the state are plunged into darkness. People spend their days in misery from Monday to Tuesday due to lack of electricity. Due to the very weak administrative and technical infrastructure of Vidyut Nigam, it took 20-30 hours for Vidyut Nigam to restore the electricity service in the capital city itself and the suburbs. The situation is the same in the district and sub-divisional headquarters.

The electricity service in the villages and hills has been completely disrupted. As the power corporation does not have the infrastructure to be repaired, the local power corporation is concerned about when the electricity service in villages and hills will be normal.

Due to lack of electricity, people's suffering has increased to the extreme. Patients are panting in hospitals. Drinking water service has been stopped. 

Due to lack of electricity, it was not possible to store water in the tanks of houses including hospitals. As a result, patients and their companions also suffering  using the hospital toilets. 

Fishermen, ice cream traders, hoteliers and sweets traders have also been affected due to lack of continuous electricity outages. 

Due to the lack of  electricity, the cold store traders are also facing losses. According to the common people there is no response when calling TSECL Customer Care number 1912  since Tuesday evening. 

"If there is no opportunity to complain, where can we report that there is no electricity? How will it be addressed?" asking the people.

However, the government has widely publicized the groundbreaking work done by the power department by introducing an online complaint system.
