Two Persons Beaten To Death in Meghalaya Over Alleged Rape Attempt

Two people are beaten to death in East West Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya. 

Both the deceased are accused of attempting to rape an 18-year-old girl. 

Police said on Saturday that the incident occurred on Friday. The girl alleges that she was in her house when two people entered her house with a knife. They tried to rape her. 

Hearing the girl's scream, people nearby gathered and detained both of them. 

Police said that the mob beat them up. One died at Tirot Singh Memorial Civil Hospital, while the other died at Shillong Civil Hospital. 

A case has been registered and investigation is underway, said police.
