Udaipur: Vehicle Movement Stopped Protesting New Hit And Run Law

Transport workers stopped the buses and small vehicles service between Udaipur-Agartala on Wednesday, demanding repeal of the new central law.

Keeping the organization and party flags aside, the workers and owners of all parties participated in this movement. None of the 50 buses, which are running daily between Rajarbagh (Udaipur) and Agartala did not run on Wednesday.

Small car drivers including Max have also joined the movement. The only demand is to withdraw the 'new central hit and run black law' for transport workers.

A few days ago, a bus driver of Udaipur's Tepaniya area was sentenced to 10 years in jail and fined. In 2015, 1 person died when the bus met with an accident near Bisramganj under Sepahijala District.

After a long legal battle, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Also fined. This is what created the fear. All kind of public transport service on the Udaipur-Agartala road was stopped on Wednesday, raising slogans of repealing the hit and run new transport law.

If this law is not withdrawn by the country's government, the transport workers have called to join a larger movement in the future.

Ahead of the last Lok Sabha elections, the central government introduced a new law called Hit and Run. According to this law  if a driver involve in an accident and someone is killed, that driver will be fined Rs 7 lakh and imprisoned for up to 10 years.

Afterintroduce of this law, before the Lok Sabha elections, car drivers across the country started a massive agitation program. Accordingly the movement started in Tripura also. Under the pressure of the movement, the central government at that time was forced to announce that further steps will be taken after consultation with the workers as soon as the election will be completed.

Three days ago, in a court verdict, a driver from Udaipur was fined and sentenced to 10 years in jail. That's why the previous movement became stronger.

All vehicle drivers in Udaipur have decided not to run their vehicles on Wednesday. From Wednesday morning, the bus drivers demanded the cancellation of this law. Also decided not to drive.

At the same time, small car drivers also joined this protest. Since Wednesday morning bus drivers stopped their vehicles on the Udaipur-Agartala road.  However, vehicle service on Agartala-Sabroom -Bilonia roads was normal
