Union Budget 2026-27 to Strengthen Tripura Economy: Sahu

Minister of State for Urban Affairs and Urban Development Tokhan Sahu on Tuesday hailed the Union Budget 2026–27 as “historic and people-oriented,” stating that it lays a clear roadmap for achieving the goal of Developed India by 2047.
Addressing a press conference at the state BJP office, Sahu said the budget presented by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on February 1 places strong emphasis on self-reliance, modern technology, and innovation, which would help India strengthen its position globally.

He added that the budget would open new avenues for employment and opportunities for the country’s youth.
Referring to the economic progress over the past 12 years, the Minister said the momentum achieved under the current government is clearly reflected in the present budget. He claimed that the size of the Union Budget has nearly doubled compared to the tenure of the previous government.

Sahu also announced the proposal to develop a Buddhist circuit to promote spiritual tourism, expressing confidence that it would significantly boost the local economy.
Quoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said the government is committed to making the North-Eastern region the “engine of India’s development.” In line with this vision, he noted that ₹11,486 crore has been allocated in the budget for strengthening rail connectivity in the North-East.
The Minister further stated that public welfare has always remained the top priority of the Modi government and expressed hope that the new budget would help strengthen Tripura’s economic foundation.
