Union Cabinet Approved Subsidy On Fertilizer. Crop Insurance Budget Increased To ₹ 69516 Cr

The central government has taken big decisions for farmers on the first day of the year. In the cabinet meeting held on Wednesday, the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana and Weather Based Crop Insurance Scheme have been approved to continue till 2025-26.
Along with this, subsidy on fertilizer will continue. A 50 kg bag of DAP fertilizer will continue to be available for Rs 1350 as before.
The cabinet has announced to give an additional subsidy of Rs 3850 crore to companies manufacturing DAP fertilizer. The allocation for the crop insurance scheme has been increased to Rs 69516 crore. No penalty will be imposed for not providing crop insurance.
Apart from this, the Union Cabinet has also allocated a budget of Rs 824.77 crore to expand innovation and technology in the agricultural sector.
The cabinet has also approved the project related to weather information. In the weather information and network data system (WINDS), automatic weather system (AWS) will be installed at the block level and automatic rain gauge (ARG) at the panchayat level.
9 major states are in the process of implementing WINDS (which include Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Puducherry, Assam, Odisha, Karnataka, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan), with other states also expressing their willingness to implement it
