Voting For Kamala Harris's Democratic Nomination Begins

Voting has begun in the US to elect the presidential candidate from the Democratic Party. The victory of Vice President Kamala Harris is considered certain.

The delegates of the Democratic Party can cast their votes to elect the presidential candidate from 6:30 pm on Thursday to 4 am on August 6 as per Indian time.

After this the results will be announced. Kamala Harris needs 1976 votes to become the presidential candidate. However, according to the Washington Post report, it is expected that she will easily cross this figure.

After the voting ends on August 6, Kamala can also announce the name of the candidate for the post of Vice President. After this, both the leaders will start a new election campaign in America.

Presidential elections are to be held in America on November 5. The results will be declared in January next year.

In fact, on July 21, US President Biden announced his withdrawal from the presidential election. Then he put forward Kamala's name. After this, Harris announced to contest the election. Kamala is the only contender in this race from the Democratic Party.

On July 22, the day after Biden withdrew, Kamala secured the majority for the nomination from the Democratic Party. According to the New York Times, Kamala Harris got the support of 1976 out of 4 thousand delegates.

After this, on July 26, she officially announced her candidacy by filling the form for nomination. After Biden's withdrawal from the race, all the big leaders of the Democratic Party have supported Kamala Harris. These include former President Barack Obama, his wife Michelle Obama, as well as Bill and Hillary Clinton.

Earlier on Wednesday, during a rally in the US state of Arizona, presidential candidate JD Vance from Trump's party called Kamala Harris fake. Addressing the supporters, Vance said that Kamala grew up in Canada.

Earlier, during an interview, former President Donald Trump questioned Harris's racial identity. Trump said that Kamala Harris always described herself as being of Indian heritage, but suddenly a few years ago she became black.

Trump said that for many years he did not know that Kamala was black, he thought that she was of Indian origin. Now for the past few years, Kamala has started calling herself black. The former US President said that Kamala wants to be known in the world as a black woman, so I do not know whether she is Indian or black.

Harris has overtaken Trump in the Reuters and Ipsos surveys. Trump is leading in two states. The contest is evenly matched in one seat. Whereas when Biden was in the election fray, he was lagging behind Trump in all these states. On the other hand, Kamala has further increased her influence in the Democratic Party
