Voting for the third phase will be held on Tuesday from 7 am to 6 pm in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, which has 90 assembly seats. In this phase, voting will be held for 40 assembly seats in seven districts. This phase is also important because in this phase, six out of seven districts are adjacent to the Pakistan border. In such a situation, keeping in mind the nefarious designs of the terrorists, the sensitivity of this phase is much more than the voting in the other two phases.
Regarding this, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar told NBT that in this last phase also, voting will be conducted peacefully without any bloodshed like in the first two phases. It is expected that voting in the third phase will be more than the first two phases. More or less the same thing was said by CEO of Jammu and Kashmir Pandurang Kondabarao Pole. He told that it is difficult to say how much voting will take place.
However, looking at the voting pattern in both the phases so far, we expect that this phase will have the highest voter turnout. Let us tell you that 61.38 per cent votes were cast in the first phase on 18 September and 57.31 per cent votes were cast in the second phase on 25 September.
Officials said that from the announcement of elections till September 28, more than Rs 243 crore cash, liquor, drugs, gift items and other goods have been seized in Jammu and Kashmir. Which was to be distributed to woo voters. This includes cash and other material worth Rs 128 crore. In this phase, voting will be held on 40 assembly seats in Bandipora, Kupwara, Baramulla, Jammu, Samba, Udhampur and Kathua districts. 24 special polling stations have been set up for migrant Kashmiris. Of these, 19 have been set up in Jammu, four in Delhi and one in Udhampur.
GPS has been installed in all the vehicles being used in the election process. So that no vehicle can be used to favour any candidate, political party or anyone in any other way. The routes of all the vehicles are already fixed. If any vehicle is found moving on a route other than its fixed route, it will be caught immediately. Voting will take place from 7 am to 6 pm. But all the voters who enter the polling station premises by 6 pm will be able to cast their vote, no matter what time it is at night.
The real time monitoring of the voting in Jammu and Kashmir will not only be done at the state level, but the Election Commission will also keep monitoring it from its master control room in Delhi. Apart from the two Election Commissioners including Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, other officials will keep getting updates of the voting in Jammu and Kashmir every moment. The live feed of the voting can also be seen on the screen installed in the control room here.
If the Commission finds any deficiency anywhere or has to give a suggestion, it will immediately give orders as per the need after watching the live feed. The Commission says that like the first two phases, full proof arrangements have been made by them for this last phase as well. Special security arrangements have also been made.
